Recent AAP Policy Statements on Organic Food and Pesticides

Intended Audience: Pediatricians, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, Nurses, Office Managers, Office Staff
Objectives — At the conclusion of the activity, participants should be able to:
- Describe the impact of low-dose, long-term exposure of children to pesticides on the developing nervous system. 
- Discuss the importance of integrated pest management in preventing pesticide exposure in children. 
- Describe the difference between organic and conventional foods in terms of pesticide exposure in produce and drug resistant bacteria in meats. 
- Describe the factors that contribute to the larger environmental impact of conventional farming on pollution, global climate change, and sustainability.
This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and Policies of the Accreditation 
Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint sponsorship of the University of Pittsburgh 
School of Medicine and the Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics. The University of Pittsburgh 
School of Medicine is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians. 
The University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine designates this live educational activity for a maximum of one (1.0) AMA
